ANTARCTICA

Antarctica: Journey to the White Continent

14 day expedition voyage—Join International Expeditions as we travel to the less-explored regions of Antarctica, including the Weddell Sea. Explore some of the most remarkable regions of Antarctica, known for the massive icebergs in myriad shapes, including some impressive tabular ones. You'll see some of Antarctica's nest wildlife. And even have a chance of seeing emperor penguins, made famous by the movie March of the Penguins. We'll be traveling aboard the 96-guest Polar Star, among the world's very best ice-class vessels. She is rated Ice Class 1A Super, the top rating. Equipped with state-of-the-art systems, a fleet of Zodiac landing craft and carrying an outstanding expedition staff versed in Antarctica's natural and human history, the Polar Star is large enough for great comfort and small enough to enter out-of-the-way places that others can only sail by. She is stabilized, meaning your ride will be as comfortable as possible. An outstanding team of expedition staff members will accompany you and help put the many things you see into context.

Our unique itinerary focuses on the less-explored Weddell Sea. There will be Zodiac landings, skilled naturalists, daily lectures and a focus on Antarctica's environment. You'll see Antarctic wildlife in its full glory: penguins (with a good chance of encountering emperor penguins), whales, elephant seals and a host of other creatures. Weather permitting, we'll make frequent landings using Zodiac landing craft and have a chance to explore on foot. A full expedition staff with a wide range of specialties will accompany you, give talks aboard ship, and ensure that you get the most out of your expedition. An appropriately sized ship (a maximum of just 96 guests) means you have more time and greater freedom at each landing to hike, photograph the ice or simply sit amid the penguins at a rookery.

Planned dates are February 4-17, 2007 and February 14-27, 2007
